Sep 10th, 2008 · Muslim leader Warith Deen Mohammed died yesterday at the age of 74. Mohammed succeeded his father, Elijah Mohammad, as the leader of the Nation of Islam in 1975. But he soon left the Nation and led his followers into mainstream Sunni Islam. Journalist Salim Muwakkill, who once worked for Mohammed, talks about the former religious leader and how he will be remembered.

Feb 11th, 2008 · Actor Roy Scheider has died. Best known for facing down a man-eating shark in Jaws, Scheider had in recent years struggled with blood cancer; he died from related complications. While Jaws catapulted Scheider to stardom in the summer of 1975, it was The French Connection, released four years earlier, that gave him his big break.

Jan 9th, 2008 · Philip Agee, a former agent of the CIA who became one of the agency's harshest critics, died this week in Havana, Cuba. His 1975 book, Inside the Company: CIA Diary, revealed covert operations and the names of covert agents. He later became editor of the magazine Counterspy, which the CIA blamed for exposing more agents. In the late 1990s, he founded a travel agency in Cuba, offering cheap excursion packages to "the safest country in the world."
