Second Stage: Hope For Agoldensummer

Feb 25th, 2010 · It's not very often that a young, up-and-coming band produces a fully developed, 17-track album. But the Athens, Georgia group Hope For Agoldensummer is wonderfully prolific. The band's members have produced a live album, two full-lengths, and they're now mixing a third. Their most recent LP, the lovely, meandering Ariadne Thread, plods effortlessly through 17 songs that are all extremely headphone-friendly.

Michael Stipe Remembers Vic Chesnutt

Dec 26th, 2009 · Singer-songwriter Vic Chesnutt has died at the age of 45. The performer, based in Athens, Ga., lost the use of his legs following an auto accident in 1983. The accident and his ongoing bouts with depression transformed him into a dark, brooding writer. Michael Stipe, of the band R.E.M., produced Chesnutt's first two albums and remembers his friend.
