Nov 8th, 2006 · Bill Marimow, a former Baltimore Sun editor who most recently served as ombudsman at National Public Radio, will become the editor of The Philadelphia Inquirer. Marimow, the former managing editor for NPR's national news division, replaces editor Amanda Bennett at the Inquirer, where he once served as city editor. Bennett will step down at the end of the year from her post at the city's largest newspaper.

Jesse Jackson responds to comments made by U.S. Housing and Urban Development Secretary Alphonso Jackson about New Orleans' black population, and also on radio host Bill Bennett, who said a reduction in crime could hypothetically come by aborting black babies. "That would be an impossibly ridiculous and morally reprehensible thing to do, but your crime rate would go down," Bennett said.
