Dec 16th, 2008 · The United States has repatriated three Guantanamo prisoners to Bosnia. They are three of the five detainees that a federal judge had ordered the government to release. He said the government had only an unreliable tip that the men were planning to engage in terrorism with al-Qaida and he urged the Justice Department not to appeal his ruling.
Nov 20th, 2008 · Five Algerians who have spent seven years in detention at Guantanamo Bay should be released, a federal judge says. They could be sent to Bosnia, where they were arrested in connection with an alleged terrorist plot.
Jul 24th, 2008 · Radovan Karadzic's arrest on war crimes charges was met with a burst of celebration in the streets of Sarajevo, which suffered a brutal siege during the Bosnia war in the 1990s at the hands of Bosnia Serb militias loyal to Karadzic. But many citizens of Sarajevo are bitter that he was able to live on the lam for 13 years before he was detained.
Jul 22nd, 2008 · In Serbia, one of the world's most wanted war criminals was arrested Monday. Radovan Karadzic, the former leader of Serb nationalist forces in Bosnia, was captured in a raid. He had been a fugitive since his indictment on war crimes charges more than a decade ago.
Apr 17th, 2008 · Democratic presidential hopefuls Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton had their 21st debate Wednesday night in Philadelphia. Less than a week before the Pennsylvania primary, the debate was bitter and rehashed incendiary topics, including Reverend Jeremiah Wright and the Bosnia sniper story.
Apr 16th, 2008 · In the 21st Democratic debate, New York Sen. Hillary Clinton and Illinois Sen. Barack Obama traded barbs about "bittergate," Rev. Jeremiah Wright and a certain Bosnia tarmac. Neither candidate would say if they share the ticket with the other. The debate falls just before the April 22 Pennsylvania primary.
Mar 25th, 2008 · Sen. Hillary Clinton's (D-NY) 1996 trip to Bosnia has come under scrutiny. Clinton said last week that, as first lady, she flew into an air base in Bosnia "under sniper fire," citing the visit as evidence of her foreign policy experience. Now she says she misspoke with regard to the risks she faced on the trip.
Jun 8th, 2007 · The terrorism trial of accused al Qaeda operative Jose Padilla and two co-defendants, Adham Hassoun and Kifah Jayyousi, is in its fourth week in Miami. They are charged with operating a cell in south Florida that supported Islamic jihadists fighting in Bosnia, Kosovo and Chechnya. A large part of the prosecution's case is based on sometimes ambiguous wire-tapped phone calls.
