Jul 4th, 2007 · Gaza-based BBC reporter Alan Johnston has been freed after nearly four months in captivity. He was held by the Army of Islam, a small radical Islamic group in the Palestinian city. At a press conference in Jerusalem, Johnston described his captors as "unpredictable and dangerous," and his ordeal as terrifying.

Jun 1st, 2007 · The kidnappers of Alan Johnston, a BBC correspondent in Gaza, have released a video of Johnston, the first sign that he might be still alive since he was captured. Johnston was abducted 11 weeks ago, apparently by Islamist militants linked to al-Qaida. The video was undated; at the time it was recorded Johnston, said he was in good health and was being well treated by his captors. Rob Gifford reports from London.
