In choosing the stick, toy experts found virtue in its versatility, natural ingredients, no-cost and its appeal to the imagination. In 2005, the cardboard box was inducted into the hall.

A London auctioneer had taken it — in a cardboard box — to be appraised. And then left the box under a train seat somewhere between London and Reading. There's a reward for the head of Sir Paul, whose whereabouts remained something of a magical mystery.

May 31st, 2008 · John Lennon scribbled the lyrics to his anti-Vietnam War song "Give Peace a Chance" on a piece of cardboard during his bed-in protest in Montreal in 1969. At the protest, the Beatle befriended a doe-eyed teenager named Gail Renard, and eventually gave her the handwritten lyrics. The teenager, now all grown up, is preparing to auction off the lyrics, which are estimated to sell for up to a half-million dollars. She talks with Guy Raz.

The move may indicate that the economy is not as soft as some thought. The Fed's economists look at all kinds of indicators; a particularly well-known one is the demand for cardboard boxes, which, curiously, seem to be holding up just fine. One box manufacturer supports the Fed's decision.

Aug 31st, 2006 · The Maine National Guard is using life-sized cardboard cutouts to help families connect with their loved ones deployed in Iraq. If your father is deployed in Iraq, you can get a "Flat Daddy" to keep at home, or to take with you on vacations or to family reunions. Sgt. First Class Barbara Claudel, who coordinates Maine's "Flat Daddy" project, says families can also get "Flat Mommies," and "Flat Sons and Daughters."
