Nov 2nd, 2007 · People tried to rob three Subway sandwich shops in Pittsburgh without any luck. The first robbery was foiled when the cashier refused to open the cashbox. The robber stormed out. The second attempt was foiled when the cashier was too nervous to open the register.
Oct 9th, 2007 · A man walked into a Pittsburgh supermarket; he pulled out a $1 million bill and he asked for change. The cashier refused. The man flew into a rage and was arrested. A $100 bill is the largest real currency in circulation.

No, the major obstacle in Japan is probably politeness, says David Kestenbaum, who was there for NPR's Climate Connections series. He says he loves Japan: "When I bought a soda at a convenience store, the cashier bowed as he gave me my change." But he acknowledges that the people's politeness posed a problem for him: "Some people were so polite, I had no idea what they were actually thinking."
