Jun 20th, 2005 · Robert Siegel talks with Mikhael Rawls, a seventeen-year-old with an unusually high singing voice, called a countertenor. Rawls has been petitioning the Texas Music Educators Association to let him audition for the All-State choir competition as a soprano, a voice part the association says is reserved for girls. Rawls has been unsuccessful in his bid.
