With Google Phone, Track Flu In Your Zip Code

Dec 4th, 2008 · For owners of a T-Mobile G1, also known as the "Google phone," you can now download a program that will give you a read out on the flu in your zip code. The program was created by the makers of the flu remedy — Zicam — and they get their information from polling health care providers and pharmacies. The company that makes the program says a version for the iPhone will be availible later this month.

R.E.M. Reissues A Classic, New Singles From The Decemberists, The Heligoats, More

Dec 1st, 2008 · This year marks the 25th anniversary of R.E.M.'s debut full-length album, Murmur. The band is marking the occasion with a remastered version of the record, which includes a bonus live concert of R.E.M. performing in 1983. The Decemberists are also back with a collection of new singles. Always The Bridesmaid features seven new songs the band is releasing in three installments, on vinyl and as digital downloads but not as CDs.

Documents Suggest Ties Between Chavez, Rebels *

Mar 6th, 2008 · Police in Colombia gave reporters documents downloaded from a laptop seized from a rebel camp in Ecuador. The documents, if authentic, indicate Venezuela's President Hugo Chavez has been in contact with the leftist Colombian insurgents for a decade. The laptops also contain documents suggesting the insurgents had been in contact with European and U.S. officials.
