Sep 30th, 2008 · A judge in New York threw out a suit against ladies' night. Roy Den Hollander claims that cheap drinks for women discriminate against men. His case came before a female judge, who told him to get lost. In Iowa City, Iowa, a cop told a drunken man to get lost. The 21-year-old said the officer looked like he needed a hug. The cop warned him off. But even though it caused his arrest, Luke Schreder bravely gave that hug.
Aug 20th, 2008 · The presidents of more than 100 colleges and universities have signed a document urging lawmakers to consider lowering the drinking age. The educators say the 21-year-old drinking age is widely flouted and has led to a culture of binge drinking on college campuses. Anti-drunken driving groups say the law does work. They argue that colleges don't want to be bothered with enforcing the law and are looking for an easy way out.
Nov 5th, 2007 · On May 11, 1965, after playing a show at Mississippi State University, Johnny Cash was arrested and charged with public drunkenness. This past weekend, the city of Starkville, Miss., symbolically pardoned him. The ceremony took place as part of the three-day Johnny Cash Flower Pickin' Festival. It's named after Cash's defense: He reportedly told the arresting officers that he was just picking flowers -- at 3 a.m. Cash went on to write a song about the experience: "Starkville City Jail."
Sep 4th, 2007 · Mark Stahnke went out drinking at a Wisconsin bar. The next thing he knew, he woke up in a neighbor's yard without any pants. The missing pants contained a cashier's check for $41,000. A neighbor's dog found the pants, and the neighbor returned the check.
Aug 22nd, 2007 · Three players of a Japanese arcade game ended up with broken arms after taking on the arm wrestling games' characters via a mechanical arm. A spokeswoman says the players must have gotten "overexcited" while wrestling a French maid, a drunken martial arts master and a Chihuahua.
