Aug 14th, 2007 · Jordan's second-largest city, Irbid, is without any piped water. And in the capital Amman, water flows through city pipes only a few hours per week. Jordan is blaming the problem on neighboring Syria, which controls the flow of the Yarmouk River, Jordan's main source for water.

May 4th, 2006 · Arranged marriages are not unusual in much of the Arab world. But young Jordanians are starting to reject that tradition, and instead look to find a mate on their own. A marriage-brokering agency has opened in Irbid, about an hour north of the capital of Aman, to help provide an alternative to traditional marriages.
