Camera Shows 'Survivable Space' in Utah Mine

Aug 11th, 2007 · Authorities lowered a camera into the chamber of a Utah mine where six men are believed to be trapped. The camera revealed a "survivable space," but the men have not responded to signals. There's been no word of them since Monday. Debbie Elliott gets the latest on the rescue effort from Jeff Brady.

Union Supporters Put Convention Heat on Democrats ***

Apr 12th, 2007 · Unions are threatening to disrupt the Democratic National Convention this summer. They're upset that the DNC chose a non-union facility in Denver for the convention. Matters became even more tense when Bill Ritter, Colorado's Democratic governor, vetoed a pro-union bill he had pledged to sign. Jeff Brady reports.

Evangelical Leader Resigns After Drug, Sex Allegations ****

Nov 3rd, 2006 · The president of the National Association of Evangelicals resigned Thursday after a male prostitute claimed on a Denver radio show that the two had had a three-year sexual relationship. While denying the claims, Rev. Ted Haggard has also taken a leave of absence as pastor of his Colorado Springs mega-church. An e-mail sent out by Haggard's church says the pastor has "confessed" that "some of the accusations against him are true." Jeff Brady reports.

Wrecked, Flooded Car Data Hard to Obtain

Aug 10th, 2006 · The National Motor Vehicle Title Information System is a federal system intended to protect consumers from flooded and wrecked cars. But it's not working. So Sen. Trent Lott (R-MS) has introduced a bill that would require insurance companies to make public their total loss data. Jeff Brady reports.

Clean Trucks, Clean Emissions **

Jun 1st, 2006 · On June 1, new standards for diesel fuel go into effect. The cleaner fuel will reduce sulfur emissions from trucks. Truckers are worried that the new fuel will be more expensive, at least at first. Truck engines have to meet new standards, too, but trucks built before the 2007 model year don't have to meet the new requirements, and truckers are rushing to dealerships, trying to get the old-style trucks before they disappear. NPR's Jeff Brady reports.
