It's the same weapon with which he shot himself in the leg on Friday night. His lawyer is asking people to withhold judgment. Burress is expected to plead not guilty to criminal possession of a weapon. The team's general manager says he phoned Burress, who didn't call back.

Kilpatrick's resignation ends an almost six-month fight to stay in office amid obstruction of justice charges. Thursday night, Kilpatrick made his first public speech to Detroiters after the plea bargain.

Portraying a McCain administration as a continuation of the current Bush White House, Obama said, "On Nov. 4, we must stand up and say: 'Eight is enough.' " Obama also said he welcomes a debate with McCain over who has the best temperament and judgment to be president.
