Nurse From WW II Victory Day Photo To Be Honored

Nov 10th, 2008 · Remember that iconic World War II photo of the sailor kissing the nurse in Times Square on Victory Day? The nurse returns to the spotlight Tuesday. Edith Shain, now 90, will be honored at New York's Veteran's Day parade. She's pretty sure she's the nurse in the photo. The image doesn't show their faces. And the photographer never got their names. Shain says she didn't know the sailor's name either. He just grabbed her and kissed her.

Campaign Hotline, Sorry Wrong Number

Oct 29th, 2008 · The Democratic Party of Michigan passed out a flier with two applications for absentee ballots. It was an effort to get people to vote early. The flier included a photo of Barack Obama, another photo of Senator Carl Levin and a number for a Democratic campaign hotline. Unfortunately for Democrats, the number was really hot. The party mistakenly gave the number for a phone sex line.

In Claxton's Death, A Photo Pioneer Lost

Oct 17th, 2008 · Photographer William Claxton got his start taking photos of jazz musicians in natural settings instead of smoky lounges. His 1967 film Basic Black was considered the first fashion video. He died Oct. 11 from congestive heart failure.
