Feb 29th, 2008 · Turkey says it has completed its goals against Kurdish rebels in Iraq, and its troops have returned to their bases. Turkey had launched an incursion into northern Iraq more than a week ago against the Kurdistan Workers' Party, or PKK.
Feb 25th, 2008 · Turkish troops are clashing with rebels from the Kurdistan Workers' Party, known as the PKK. The PKK rebels claim to have shot down a Turkish helicopter over the weekend. The Turkish military said Sunday that eight of its soldiers were killed in the mountains of northern Iraq.
Feb 24th, 2008 · Turkish troops pursued their new offensive against Kurdish rebel bases across the border in Northern Iraq on Sunday. Heavy fighting left dozens dead, and the rebels -- from the Kurdistan Workers Party, or PKK -- shot down a Turkish helicopter.
Feb 22nd, 2008 · Turkish troops, backed by tanks and warplanes, moved into northern Iraq on Friday to hunt down Kurdish separatist guerrillas of the PKK, who have been launching raids into Turkey from Iraqi territory. Turkey says the guerrillas are their only target. It's unclear how many troops are involved.
Dec 18th, 2007 · Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice visit Iraq unannounced on Tuesday, but her trip was overshadowed by an incursion into the northern part of the country by Turkish troops hunting guerrillas of the Kurdish separatist group PKK. The U.S. has recently begun sharing intelligence with Turkey to pinpoint guerrilla positions.
Dec 17th, 2007 · Dozens of Turkish planes were bombing mountain hideouts of the rebel Kurdish organization, the PKK, over the weekend. The attack, 60 miles inside Iraq, lasted for three hours. This appears to be the most intense cross-border attack launched by the Turks since the U.S. invasion of Iraq in 2003.
