FCC: Cable Won't Be Required to Carry Local Digital Channels

Feb 11th, 2005 · Federal regulators have voted not to require cable operators to carry multiple digital channels produced by local television stations. Digital technology allows a station to squeeze multiple channels into the same space on the broadcast spectrum. But the FCC says cable systems only need to carry the primary channel.
