Obama Meets With Senators On Immigration

Mar 11th, 2010 · President Obama met Thursday with Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) who are trying to craft a bipartisan immigration bill. The meeting comes less than two weeks before immigrant rights activists are planning a march on Washington to draw attention to their cause, but so far the White House has been reluctant to put the issue on the front burner.

Sanford left the state without notice last summer for a secret rendezvous with an Argentine woman he referred to as his "soul mate." In the days after the affair came to light, a majority of legislators called for Sanford to resign or face impeachment. But time seems to have lessened the outrage. The legislature now is merely considering a censure.
