May 7th, 2008 · Sea lions in the Columbia River in Oregon feed on the spring run of chinook salmon, much to the annoyance of fisherman, so the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife began the trapping the sea lions. Agency spokesman Rick Hargrave was on scene when six sea lions were found dead in their traps. He talks with Melissa Block about the history of the salmon battle.

Apr 12th, 2008 · When poachers illegally used baby salmon as bait for ancient sturgeon in the Sacramento Delta, California fish and game wardens were there to break the doors down and haul the alleged offenders away. But that single operation took 1/5 of the state's whole force of wardens. The problem is, the force charged with protecting threatened species and enforcing California's tough environmental laws is understaffed and under paid.
