Los Angeles, Salvadoran Police Unite Against Gangs

May 22nd, 2007 · Los Angeles and San Salvador have a problem in common: gangs. The Salvadoran National Police estimate there are now more than 12,000 deported and homegrown gang members in the country, responsible for 40 percent of all homicides. Police in both places recently agreed to begin swapping tactics and intelligence to combat the problem.

Murders Foster El Salvador-Guatemala Tension

Mar 3rd, 2007 · Late last month three Salvadoran legislators were killed while on official business in Guatemala. The four Guatemalan men who were arrested and charged with the murders were killed while in custody. It turned out that the men killed in jail were Guatemalan police.

DNA Reuniting Salvadoran War Orphans with Parents ****

Jul 5th, 2006 · DNA collected in El Salvador is being analyzed in California to help Salvadoran parents identify children who went missing during that country's civil war. Thousands of Salvadoran children were separated from their families in the 1980s. A human rights group hopes to match up adopted children with their birth parents.
