Saturn was once a darling of the company with its reliable vehicles and no-haggle pricing. Pontiac's muscle cars used to have a strong identity and a loyal following. Both brands are now in serious trouble.
Mar 12th, 2008 · The Cassini spacecraft is on track Wednesday to skim past Saturn's moon, Enceladus, right through the plume of an "ice geyser" that is throwing material out into space and may be fed by an underground ocean. Scientists say Enceladus is the sort of place that theoretically could support some form of life.
Nov 30th, 2007 · Former General Motors chief executive Roger Smith has died. He was 82. Smith led the automaker during the 1980s, when the company created the Saturn brand. He was the subject of Michael Moore's documentary Roger and Me.
Oct 12th, 2007 · The Cassini spacecraft has discovered three lakes near the south pole of Saturn's moon Titan. The strange bodies are filled not with water but with liquid methane and ethane. Methane also drizzles from the sky on Titan.
Sep 8th, 2007 · The Voyager I robotic probe was launched in September 1977 on a supposed five-year mission to explore Jupiter and Saturn. It is still traveling and transmitting data today -- three decades later.
Jul 13th, 2007 · General Motors plans to produce a diesel-powered version of their Cadillac and Saturn automobile series. This announcement comes on the eve of labor contract negotiations between the United Auto Workers and the big three automakers.
Dec 9th, 2005 · Scientists monitoring the Cassini mission to Saturn release some startling images of Saturn's moons. One image suggests the icy moon Enceladus is still geologically active inside.
