May 2nd, 2007 · Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice met Wednesday with Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki at the Egyptian resort of Sharm el-Sheikh, where a two-day conference on Iraq will begin Thursday. Both Syria and Iran will be represented at the conference; Rice says side-meetings are possible even though the Bush administration has shunned both in recent years.

Jul 26th, 2005 · Friday's terrorist bombings in Sharm al-Sheikh occurred just as the Cairo government set Sept. 7 as the date for Egypt's first multi-candidate presidential election. Analysts in Cairo believe the attacks will strengthen the campaign of the incumbent, Hosni Mubarak, who has been in power for more than 20 years.

Jul 26th, 2005 · Egyptian investigators say they may have identified one of the suicide bombers involved in Friday's attacks in Sharm el Sheik. Agents believe Youssef Badran, and Egyptian, drove a car full of explosives into the lobby of a luxury hotel. Forensic experts are relying on DNA to identify the bombers and their victims.

Jul 25th, 2005 · Egyptian police investigating Friday's bombings at the Red Sea resort of Sharm el Sheik have detained about 90 people in connection with the case. Authorities say one of the attackers may have survived the bombings, and may still be at large. Health officials say at least 64 people died in the attacks, but hospitals put the death toll higher.
