One is a bit off the beaten path: The Nativity scene at St. Athanasius Catholic Church in Brooklyn. It began 40 years ago with an Italian immigrant who created a small display. It has grown with hundreds of shepherds, peasants and little houses — though still just one baby Jesus.

John Stalnaker trained Buddy to make the emergency call, should he — as he sometimes does — have a seizure. The Arizona Republic reports emergency officials arrived within two minutes — after hearing Buddy whimpering on the other end of the phone.

Boris Urmatov, a shepherd, lives beneath the path of rockets from a Russian launching pad. He says a 10-foot-long chunk of rocket metal fell in his yard -- and just missed crushing his outhouse. Now he has filed a lawsuit demanding 1 million roubles.
