Dec 17th, 2008 · Independent producer Sean Hurley has an alter ego. He's 79 year-old commentator Sherwin Sleeves. Sleeves attended a town meeting the other night, after the recent ice storm knocked out power in his New Hampshire village. Townspeople met for a fierce debate over road repairs.
Nov 25th, 2008 · Southern California-based Faded Paper Figures wears its inspirations on its sleeve. On its MySpace page, bands such as The Postal Service and Stars are listed as major influences a fact that's easy to hear on the electro-pop trio's debut, Dynamo. It features intriguing lyrics, the occasional duet, and plenty of drum machines and programmed keyboards.

Sep 24th, 2008 · The cover art for Kira Lynn Cain's debut, The Ideal Hunter, depicts the San Francisco-based chanteuse bearing an uncanny resemblance to 1940s actress Veronica Lake. That, along with the dark background and bright red block lettering of the album's name, makes the artwork seem more like a film noir poster than a CD sleeve. The design choices make sense after listening to The Ideal Hunter, which begins with the haunting song "White as a Dove." The track features eerie cello strokes layered with piano and an occasional, ominous drum beat lurking beneath Cain's breathy vocals.
May 17th, 2008 · When Panic at the Disco released its debut CD, its members hadn't yet graduated from high school. Three years later, Pretty. Prudhomme shook his shirt sleeve found a .22-caliber bullet in his long johns.
Feb 21st, 2008 · A Virginia company is developing clothing with tourniquets -- a cloth and plastic device designed to stop bleeding after an injury -- built into each sleeve and leg. The company says the product would help wounded soldiers in danger of bleeding to death.
