Oct 14th, 2008 · Pumpkin grower Thad Starr of Oregon won this year's weigh-off in Half Moon Bay, Calif. His pumpkin weighed 1,528 pounds. It took a forklift to raise the competing pumpkins onto an industrial scale. Besides bragging rights, there's a prize of $6 a pound. That means Starr won more than $9,000. He says the secret to raising his great pumpkin: good soil and "we really pamper them."

City officials have asked former independent counsel Kenneth Starr for input on an ordinance outlawing paparazzi stalking. Starr is dean of Pepperdine University's law school. The ACLU says the ordinance raises First Amendment conflicts.

Apr 12th, 2008 · Vandals decapitated a life-size topiary of Ringo Starr in Liverpool, England, last weekend after he said he missed nothing about the city. An Italian sculptor created the leafy tribute to Starr and the other Beatles to celebrate Liverpool's designation as a 2008 "European Capital of Culture."
