When commentator Angeli Primlani wants to go dancing, she hooks up with a club called the Chi-Town Squares. The members are mostly gay men, but recently, groups of older straight couples from the suburbs have started showing up at their dances.

Jack Coughlin: Life Behind a Long-Range Rifle ****

Jun 16th, 2005 · Jack Coughlin, a gunnery sergeant in the Marines, is the author of the new book Shooter: The Autobiography of the Top-Ranked Marine Sniper. He grew up in a wealthy Boston suburb and joined the Marines at age 19, spending the next 20 years behind the scope of a long-range rifle as a sniper. He has more than 60 confirmed kills, 38 of which took place during Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Buried Treasure in a Boston Suburb *

Novelist Tom Perrotta, Sending Up the Suburbs

Feb 4th, 2005 · His book Little Children has just come out in paperback. It's a satirical take on parenthood and suburbia. One reviewer writes of the book: "It represents a sterling comic contribution to the growing literature of the Bad Mommy and Bad Daddy." Perrotta is also the author of the novels Joe College and Election, which was made into the 1999 movie of the same name. (This interview was originally broadcast on April 12, 2004.)
