Sep 17th, 2008 · Stepping on dog droppings is one of the more irritating aspects of life. In Israel, a suburb of Tel Aviv is testing a new way to determine who isn't scooping the poop. The local vet is collecting samples of doggie DNA, using a mouth swab from the pets. If droppings end up on someone's shoe, the city can check it against its database and fine the owner. Owners contribute the DNA sample voluntarily, but the city is considering making it the law.
Sep 15th, 2008 · Federal investigators in the north L.A. suburb of Chatsworth are still poring over the deadly scene of Friday's head-on collision between a commuter train carrying 225 people and a freight train. As of this morning, 25 people have died and 135 are injured—40 of them critically.
Sep 13th, 2008 · At least 18 people were killed in a collision between a commuter train and a freight train in the Los Angeles suburb of Chatsworth on Friday. Transit officials said the commuter train engineer apparently failed to stop at a red light.
