The man wore a bulky jacket despite summer temperatures, and was shot after being tackled by undercover police. Four men identified as suspects in Thursday's bombings have not been apprehended. Meanwhile, the death toll hits 54 as a bombing victim dies in the hospital, and authorities say it is likely to climb higher.
Jul 12th, 2005 · Police in London have confirmed evidence that suggests one of the people responsible for last week's bombings in London died in a blast on the London bus in Tavistock Square. Police are also trying to confirm whether the three other people they believe to be behind the blasts also died in the attacks.
Mar 8th, 2005 · NPR's Alex Chadwick talks to British Airways official Steve Sheterline about a recent incident on one of their long-haul flights. A 747 recently continued on its Los Angeles-to-England flight despite losing one of its engines shortly after takeoff. A few days later, the same plane had another engine failure coming out of Singapore, and the pilot again choose to continue the flight. Some suspect the incidents are the result of new European rules that punish airlines for delayed or canceled flights.
