May 5th, 2008 · The Iraqi government has announced plans to create a special committee to review allegations that Iran is providing arms to Shiite militia groups in Iraq. The announcement comes after five Iraqi Parliament members traveled to Tehran to press the issue with Iranian leaders. Americans say they have come up with large amounts of captured Iranian weapons, and a Mahdi Army commander tells NPR that his group is getting weapons from Iran.
