Nov 19th, 2008 · The world's biggest automaker says it will stop production at all U.S. and Canadian factories for two days next month. Toyota's assembly, transmission and engine plants will close in late December as the company tries to work through excess inventory. The Japanese carmaker is in much better financial shape than its U.S. rivals, but sales of Toyota's vehicles also are plunging.
Nov 4th, 2008 · The U.S. auto industry reported sales numbers for the month of October Monday. Automakers sold 32 percent fewer vehicles than the same month last year. That was the worst performance since 1991. .
Oct 31st, 2008 · Vehicle repossessions are up 10 percent this year, a result of tough economic times and sky-high fuel prices over the summer. Analysts predict about 1.6 million vehicles around the country will be repossessed in 2008. But much like the trend with home foreclosures, many lenders are trying to avoid repossessing vehicles.

On Monday, the city set up drive-thru voting booths. Voters could confirm they're registered, then pull ahead into lanes leading to electronic voting machines, roll down the window and cast their vote. The only thing missing, fries.
Oct 14th, 2008 · GM has announced plans to close a Michigan metal stamping plant and stop making sport utility vehicles in Wisconsin by the end of the year. Workers at both plants will get most of their pay from the company and unemployment benefits for up to two years under their union contract.
