Markets Bustling As Truffle Season Begins In France

There is an atmosphere of intrigue as truffle sellers line up carrying les truffes noires, the famous black truffle of the Perigord region of France, in their baskets. They will fetch anywhere from $250 to $400 a pound, depending on their quality.

Evangelicals: 'Skeleton Man'

Evangelicals, a trio from Norman, Okla., make trippy rock with the warm wash of sound typical of neo-psychedelia, and the infectious melodies and rhythms of more upbeat indie-pop. It's a potent mix. On their sophomore release, The Evening Descends, the group deftly blends shimmering guitars with assorted background noises and atmospherics, set against singer Josh Jones' anguished voice. The album has an entirely mesmerizing texture without being overly produced or drowned in sound.

Wait Think Fast: 'Cien Fuegos'

Fronted by Argentinean-born vocalist and pianist Jacqueline Santillan, the quartet adds distinct flavor to its atmospheric, post-punk sound by utilizing both Spanish and English for its bilingual lyrics.

'Ashes Of Time Redux': Sumptuous All Over Again

A leaner, more linear version of a 1994 drama from cult director Wong Kar-wai; entrancingly atmospheric, emotionally elusive and saturated with colors so vivid as to verge on the psychedelic. (Recommended).
