Gloomy Economy Responsible For Lower Gas Prices

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular is down to about $2.40 a gallon. That's according to a survey from the Energy Department. In parts of the South and Midwest, gas is selling for less than $2 a gallon. It's a sharp drop from earlier in the year when gas prices were approaching $5 a gallon. One reason for the drop is the slumping economy.
